Making models cry is getting way to easy for me unfortunately. Working with HMUA Nancy Vela, we discussed how I like to create pictures that go beyond literal when given the opportunity. Before we wrapped the studio part of the shoot she suggested tears. Amazing, I love collaborating with other artists and talent that bring another dimension to what we do.
I don't maintain a studio anymore for for the following reason.
#1 is the cost of operating a studio especially when there are so many amazing spaces to rent for my commercial shoots. For me the BIG reason for having a studio is really about a place for control.
#2 is letting go of the feeling that I need control. True on commercial shoots where you need a place for crew, clients, props and wardrobe and a large space for setup it is a must but that is not what my personal work is about.
#3 for me having the expense of a studio made feel like I needed to use it all the time which put stress on me to shoot there when all I really wanted to be was out in the world shooting. Simply put makes me feel tied down.
#4 this is a double edged sword. I feel if you are not careful you become a one trick pony, in the commercial world that is somewhat embraced. Please please, I am not knocking those that can do the same thing day after day but it's just not my thing. I love mixing it up a bit.
#5 is daylight is so so beautiful !
